AS-Level Product Design Project

For my Product Design project I decided to make a floor standing light for living room showroom. While in the process of designing it I used a program called Solidworks to create a 3D model of the lamp to get an idea of what I would need to create it. Below are the Solidworks renders and some images of the final product.

This and the following renders are of the initial model I made of my floorstanding light. I created it using Solidworks.

After the models had been made both virtually and physically, I then stared production. This is a shot of the base (which I had changed to wood) as I was shaping it on the lathe.

The top parts where the LED strips are behind frosted polycarbonate cylinders were virtually unchanged from the inital design, with the exception of how they were constructed.

To keep the brightness of the LED's down, I used frosted plastic, this also meant that the ugly LED strips are not visible from the exterior.

As the light was meant to be an ambient light, it will not provide as much light as a conventional ceiling light, however it does provide about the same level of light as a typical lamp.

Virtual Reality Project

For my first Virtual Reality assignment at University I was tasked to create a model using 3D Studio Max. As my report for this assignment had taken a racing theme, I chose to model a Formula One Wheel.
